Common misunderstandings

Burnaby does not run a central application or waitlist for these homes. Each building handles its own. The October 2025 policy change also lowered the share of below-market homes in new buildings.

Key insight

The October 14, 2025 amendment cut required below-market shares to 10% in northwest and southwest Burnaby and 5% in northeast and southeast Burnaby. This means fewer below-market homes will be built going forward.
